Summer Positions

Housing & Residence Life offers unique student staff positions during the Summer Term. Summer student staff are directly involved with assisting with all summer operations, which includes summer housing for Tulane students and our summer camps and conferences which stay on-campus during the summer.

The following student staff positions are offered by Housing & Residence Life during the Summer Term. Each position has unique roles within Housing & Residence Life, and students who are interested in applying to one or multiple positions are encouraged to review the job descriptions for each position closely. Our summer positions provide great benefits for Tulane students interested in staying in New Orleans during the Summer and gaining valuable work experience. All summer positions pay a minimum of $10.00 an hour, plus on-campus housing benefits for the summer. From assisting conference guests, providing customer service to our summer camps, or assisting Tulane students residing with us over the summer, our positions are an important team of staff during the summer. Summer Assistants provide customer service to summer conference guests staying in the residence halls. SAs will perform a variety of functions including preparing residence halls for guest arrival and facilitating check-ins and check-outs for guests. Compensation includes an hourly rate and a free bed space in a double occupancy room during the dates of employment.

Senior Summer Assistants work with the Assignments & Conferences Coordinator to organize and communicate conference desk schedules and duty schedule to student staff. SSAs are on call for assigned summer conferences and orientation sessions to assist with any issues that may arise. Compensation includes an hourly rate and a free single occupancy room provided during the dates of employment.

Summer Office Assistants serve as the first point of contact for visitors to the main Housing and Residence Life office in Irby Hall. The role of the OA is to provide excellent customer service, to provide administrative support to the central office staff, and to assist in office projects and initiatives. Compensation includes an hourly rate and a free bed space in a double occupancy room provided during the dates of employment. Living on-campus is not required.

Applications for Summer student staff positions are available during the Spring semester immediately preceding the Summer of employment. Information will be sent to students regarding application availability near the beginning of the semester in which the application will become available.
